TOTO Toilets Help Consumers Navigate the New Normal
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a new normal to the lives of many. TOTO is leveraging its technology to help people navigate this New Normal.
Kaisen or "perfection" is a cultural concept that is the driving force behind the Japanese company Toto. Their latest toilet, the WELLNESS TOILET, utilizes cutting-edge sensing technologies to support consumer health.
Water Sense Technology
WaterSense-labeled plumbing fixtures have been approved by the EPA and help save energy and water while providing a safe, reliable performance. TOTO USA is one of the first companies worldwide to receive the WaterSense Label for its EcoPower flush valves and commercial flushometers.
Our Aquia IV Dual-flush Toilet is an excellent example of an efficient bathroom fixture. It consumes only 1.28 gallons of water for each flush. This is less than 1.6 grams required to be in compliance with EPA standards. The Aquia IV features TOTO TORNADO FLUSH technology that reduces the frequency of cleaning bowls and the need for additional flushes.
Installing a showerhead with a low flow will cut down on the amount of water you need for washing or bathing. Our high-efficiency showerheads are WaterSense Rated and come with the latest technology to ensure superior performance.
In a world where water shortages are frequent, limiting the use of water is important. TOTO's EcoPower technology, found in our Aquia IV toilet as well as our NEXUS one-piece toilet can help reduce the amount of water we use by using just 1.28 gallons of water per flush to remove waste.
TOTO's elongated toilets are also approved by the EPA for high efficiency. The elongated toilets have a round or elongated basin and an ADA-compliant 17-19 inch height. We also have an elongated, compact toilet which is ideal for tight spaces and uses only 0.9 grams of water per flush.
TOTO's bidet wands are among the industry's most popular for both home and office use. They are not just more cost-effective than toilet paper, they also offer a cleaner and healthier clean and leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed. The NEXUS bidet features our EWATER+ technology, which is made by electrolyzing tap water to produce an ionic solution of sodium chloride ions and hypochlorous acid. This produces a powerful disinfectant which eliminates viruses, bacteria and other pathogens, while leaving your skin, as well as the environment, unharmed.
ADA Compliant
You can be able to find the terms "ADA compliant" and "universal height" however, not all toilets that are universal heights are ADA-compliant.

The ADA standards established by the Americans with Disabilities Act are designed to be inclusive of people of all ages and abilities that include those with limited mobility or lower body strength. By including these standards into their products, Toto ensures that their customers have the bathroom experience they want with the added benefit of ease of use.
TOTO's ADA-compliant toilets feature one-piece construction that instantly enhances the look of any bathroom and offers a practical advantage compared to traditional two-piece designs. The single-piece designs from TOTO simplify cleaning by removing the gap between the bowl and tank. TOTO's Eco UltraMax toilets also have a high-efficiency flushing system that uses less water. They are water-efficient and consume 1.28 gallons per flush (GPF) or less.
Two-Piece or One-Piece Design
Many people who have visited Japan have been raving about the comfort and effectiveness of the Toto toilets they have used. Toto toilets are Japanese models that feature a one-piece design integrating the tank and bowl. These toilets are easily cleaned and can be placed in small spaces. They are also durable and will last for a long period of time.

Noise Reduction
In the United States, bathrooms are typically located near bedrooms, so toilets that keep the noise to a minimum are sought-after. And TOTO has found a way to do that with its Washlet, a bidet with an electric seat. TOTO's toilets are described as "magical" because they have a rimless basin that makes use of a small amount of water, and a powerful warm air spray that cleanses and dries the skin.
The humble toilet is highly regarded in Japan, which is a country that loves its technological advancements. These qualities are reflected in the Toilet Museum of Japan which was inaugurated in 1999 and is designed to inspire people to think differently about their bathroom habits. A toilet-powered motorcycle powered by poop and other tongue-in-cheek exhibits are designed to emphasize the message of the museum that TOTO products are not only efficient but also eco-friendly.
The museum also showcases TOTO's innovation history, from the first flush all the way to the aeration-based toilet that requires less water and reduces waste by 90 percent. The Washlet is also on display in this area. It uses a jet to clean and dry the user while masking embarrassing sounds from the toilet with bird-like sounds.
Before the formation of Toto members, such as bassist David Hungate and drummer Jeff Porcaro performed on albums by famous artists such as Steely Dan Seals and Crofts Boz Scaggs and Sonny and Cher. In the years following Toto's debut album, the band was struggling to make a name for themselves and had to endure a series of member changes. Eventually, Hungate left the band in 1980 to pursue a solo career in Nashville. The reason he left the band was due to a lack of time for his family and an increasing addiction problem. The band's success was contingent on Lukather and Steve Porcaro.
